Tricana Conserves
There are many brands of tinned fish in Portugal, but very few like Tricana. It selects only the best, freshest fish of Portuguese origin. The tuna comes from the Azores, sardines are fished in Matosinhos and the eels originate from Murtosa. Production is kept to a small scale so that quality remains high. Nevertheless, there is a wide selection to choose from, regarding both the number of conserves and the range of recipes. In Conserveira de Lisboa, tins are still wrapped by hand, with colourful vintage packaging. Founded in 1930, its headquarters in Rua dos Bacalhoeiros 34, remains intact and strikingly beautiful - well worth a visit by tourists from all over the world.
