This miniature Procissão dos Passos parade represents in detail one of the most remarkable moments of Holy Week and Easter, held annually around Palm Sunday.

In this procession, spectators watch the parade of allegorical paintings and a dramatic staging of what was the moment of the condemnation and death of Jesus. In it, the key figures who intervened in the trial parade: soldiers, executioners and enemies; but also friends, repentant Magdalenes and women. Jesus himself, the "Lord of the Steps", carrying the cross on his back, crosses the streets of the City, as he once walked those of Jerusalem.
