Chrysanthemum coronarium

Ornamental, medicinal and food. Annual herbaceous plant that can reach up to 1,5 m. The petals can be yellow or white with a yellow crown in the centre. It offers an intense flowering during the entire spring, attracting all kind of pollinating insects. The petals are edible and its young, very aromatic leaves can be used to prepare soups and salads. It has also several medicinal applications. Adapts easily to different soil types, as long as well drained and with good sun exposition. Due to its repellent effect on insects, it is a good choice to be used in the kitchen garden in mixed culture.
