Synopsis from the Editor: "The set of texts found in Garden of Cordel literature came from an invitation from the then director of the National Library ( João Palma Ferrreira) Mário Cesariny de Vasconcelos in order to explore the wealth that lies in Who. The search, which lasted for three months during which Cesariny sought mainly anonymous authors (though also have included narratives that, not belonging to the cordel literature, considered appropriate), resulted in the book edition of about 50 cordel booklets of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, between political pamphlets, galhofas, amazing ... In the words of João Palma Ferreira this is greater literature, because ancient people's wisdom is despised by elitist prejudice. Refers to areas where the capacity of invention and use of metaphor has reached a staggering level."
