Authentic Papa blanket, produced in an old handloom, using the greasy wool" for extra warmth, with thick stripes against a pale backdrop.

Maçainhas village (near Guarda, where Marquês de Pombal initiated textile production) used to earn a living from the production of these – once very popular – blankets. During the summer time, the thick and long “greasy wool” of the local sheep is spun and woven on an old handloom. The final result are these thick and very warm blankets, with a distinctive long  thread.
