About the workshop: Bunho or buínho (schoenoplectus lacustris) is a plant that grows in wet and temperate areas of Europe and eastern Asia. In Portugal, it is mainly found in the basins of the Mondego, Tejo, Sado, and Guadiana rivers, as well as in streams, lagoons, and marshes. It is used to make mats, baskets, chair seats, and the characteristic furniture of the Santarém region. Come learn about it and make a basket using simple basket weaving techniques."
About Cristina Fonseca: Is a basket maker, mainly dedicated to creating small series and unique pieces for lighting and interior decoration. She works with reed pith, bunho, split wood, among other vegetable fibers. She is a trainer and researcher, collaborating regularly with public and private entities.
