I digitalized myself says the designer who has probably scanned himself to the bone. The feet and hands which we find in these pages are his, at least. As well as photos of childhood, other more recent photos and many other details hidden from view. Merely material for his work, were it nota subtler way in diving headlong into commissions and transfiguring himself into projects. Beginning with his obsession in collecting as much as he can to understand something better, his detective-like modus operandi is to throw himself in relentless pursuit of a concept, a space capable of amassing fetishes, details, reflections, materials, games, mistakes, stories in short, clues. Carlos Guerreiro doesn't create sketches. He makes lists, long lists of objects, colours and ideas.
D is a collection devoted to Portuguese designers from various different generations. Artists in several disciplines, from communication to objects, fashion to graphic arts, and from advertising to illustration. In essence they are visual monographs that aim to provide an Initial encounter with the rich yet relatively unexamined history of Portuguese design, highlighting its excellence and significance for the present and future of design teaching and practice.
