In the childhood of the toys, a simple rope was enough to trigger one’s inventiveness. That’s how it all started for the jumping rope, so simple yet strong, with two wooden handles to make it easier to grab.
The initial technique is simplicity in itself: you just jump while making the roap slide under your feet and over your head. With added practice and skill, the faster it goes and the more different uses you can create. And it can be turned from a persons to a team play (such as “Cat and Dog”, where the girls get to pick the boys) with songs fit to measure, such as this one: “Jumping up and down, using only one leg, falling with the bum on the ground”.
