In 1893 Francisco Roque da Silva decided to found the very first fine biscuit production unit in Madeira Island, the Fábrica Santo António. It was his wife Guilhermina who gathered the series of ancestral family recipes, developing and perfecting for production, always respecting the taste through careful selection of the finest ingredients.
It was its quality and consistency that became its hallmark reference, setting the standards in Madeira. This heritage has been carefully maintained and developed untill today by the family, currently in the 5th generation.
