Few regions in Europe are as rich in folk embroidery as the Entre Douro e Minho region. And none are as original, authentic, and popular as the embroidery from Viana do Castelo. Originally used to decorate festive costumes, it wasn’t until the early 20th century that it began to appear on tablecloths, cushions, sewing boxes, and pin cushions.
