In Portugal, freedom is celebrated every year on April 25th, FREEDOM DAY. On this historic day in 1974, the «Carnation Revolution» took place, ending a 48-year dictatorship. A military revolt, led by the Armed forces Movement (MFA), overthrew the Estado Novo dictatorship (1933-1974), establishing democracy and restoring fundamental freedoms, such as freedom of expression and association. Since then, every day, one can express their opinion, say what's on their mind, be whoever they want to be, and choose their destiny.
