Autumn, with its acorns and falling leaves, holds a very special place in my heart. As a child, I loved watching the colours change and jumping into the piles of leaves that my mother meticulously stacked in our garden. Together, we would dry these leaves and create beautiful works of art. The ceramic pieces I created were designed for my mid-century wooden tables and to infuse my home with the warm tones of autumn. They also find a place in my weekend country retreats, with their cosy colours accentuating the comfort of a crackling fireplace. I appreciate how these pieces add a subtle touch to the space, pairing beautifully with green hydrangeas, a classic autumn flower.

The Bordallo Pinheiro Artistic Ceramics Factory carries the torch of the Ceramics Factory from Caldas da Rainha, founded in 1884 by the designer and caricaturist genius Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro. An original artistic project, combining industrial production with a quest for the essence of being Portuguese. The factory continues to reproduce pieces from its extraordinary faience collection and to expand it with new creations inspired by his originals, such as lobster plates or cabbage dinner ware – not forgetting the original swallows.
