May 27-31: A Vida Portuguesa during Lisbon Design Week - Presentations + Workshop
A Vida Portuguesa invites you, as part of Lisbon Design Week, to the presentations and cocktails of two new collaborations:
BÉHEN x BORDAL, Wednesday, May 27, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM, at the store in Largo do Intendente
“Behind the Curtain, Time Resides” is an installation by BÉHEN and BORDAL that reimagines old Madeira Embroidery motifs, evoking the feeling of looking at the island's landscape from an interior perspective.
Developed especially for Lisbon Design Week and hosted at A Vida Portuguesa, this collaborative project will also include a workshop on Saturday, May 30, at the Depozito store.
During the session, the fundamental points that distinguish Madeira Embroidery will be introduced. Each participant will have the opportunity to learn or improve six different stitches using the official BORDAL kit, which includes a cotton handkerchief, the printed design, needles, and threads. Sam Baron x Maria Terracota, Friday, May 29th, 6 PM - 7:30 PM, at the store in Chiado
The Sam Baron X Maria collection is a tribute to the local craftsmanship of the Portuguese family business Maria Terracotta.
Maria is the name of the grandmother of the owners of the ceramic production company in the Porto de Mós region, which uses the regional natural resource of terracotta. Sam was inspired by the functional and decorative objects produced by his grandmother Maria and reworked, in a contemporary way, the details that made them unique. Friezes, curves and undulations compose the shapes of the vases, centerpieces and now several pieces of a complete tableware set celebrate the art of entertaining at the table, the meeting point par excellence for the Portuguese.
The glazes, in shades of green, beige and blue, applied to the top of the pieces embellish the clay, evoking the natural beauty of the region's landscape and paying homage to the land.
We look forward to seeing you next week!
