Workshop 'Linguarar', with Senhor Vulcão

This creative songwriting workshop, inspired by satirical and derisive songs, proposes a crossover between oral tradition and popular songbook with a contemporary and neo-popular approach. The focus is on writing as a critical and ironic tool, exploring the creation of lyrics for songs that dialogue with popular culture in tune with the universe of singer-songwriter Senhor Vulcão and the Fala Povo Fala project, of which he is a founding member, musician, and lyricist. The workshop prioritizes the creation of an informal and experimental space where participants can work with oral language, poetry, meter, rhythm, repetition, and critique, considering the song as a place of friction between tradition and the present.

Introduction to satirical and derisive songs;
Creative writing exercises based on popular themes and common imagery;
Writing lyrics for a neo-popular songbook, individual and/or collective;
Creation of lyrics for music created for the purpose by Senhor Vulcão and the workshop participants, using tambourines and other popular instruments, activating a performative and sonic dimension of the texts;
Participants will have the opportunity to present the rhymes created in a final improvised or sung performance for an invited audience.

Mr. Vulcão was born in Lisbon in 1976.
As a musician, singer, and songwriter, he has released five albums: "Montanha" (2013), "Canções do Bandido" and "Flores do Bem" (2015), "Mansidão e Blandícia" (2019), "Bixos Bons" (2021), "Boca de Fogo" (2026), and an EP "Capaz" (2015) with music by him and poems by Pedro Ventura, an artist from the Manicómio project. As a musician, he is also a founding member of the Portuguese neo-popular band Fala Povo Fala with musicians Jacaréu and A Culpa do Joni, which debuted in 2026 with the album "Punks Populares". He performs spoken word and poetry recital at various Portuguese events. He won two Poetry Slams in 2024 (Poetry Slam de Sintra - 1st Elimination Round, and Poetry Slam Festival MAP - Mostra de Artes e Palavra). In 2023, Vulcão published his first book of poetry, "Flor em Vaso não será Floresta" (self-published). In 2026, he debuted with the publisher URUTAU with a book of poems entitled "As Raposas estão queimando" and his first novel, entitled "Carcaça," is to be published by Penguin Books.
